children program
On the last weekend of the summer holidays, on August 17th and 18th, it's finally time again: The museum festival in the Neanderthal Museum promises two days full of fun and action for families with children aged 4 and over (toddlers free). Together with numerous partners and actors, this festival is the highlight of the holiday season. Numerous action stands invite the whole family with exciting demonstrations and hands-on activities. Children and adults can make Stone Age amulets, practice archery, have a Stone Age tattoo done, make clay figures or show off their acrobatic talents at the hands-on circus. Other highlights include examining animal bones, Stone Age music, making fire with stones and many other exciting activities. There is also plenty of animal fun: ZOOM Erlebniswelt Gelsenkirchen and the Green Zoo Wuppertal provide insights into their work. A visit to the Tarpan enclosure in the Ice Age wildlife enclosure is also on the program. In keeping with the current special exhibition "ICE TIME TRAVEL GREENLAND", the "Düsseldorf Ice Age" is providing a delicious way to cool down with its natural ice cream creations. There is also plenty to keep you well-fed: on the festival grounds and in the surrounding restaurants, there is coffee and cake, hearty treats and even homemade bread from the Stone Age clay oven.
