PDF

Guided tour/visit
As part of the public tour, the special exhibition is explained and opened up through dialogue. Upper Silesia is the second largest mining industrial region in Europe after the Ruhr area. The special exhibition shows the history of mining in Tarnowitz (Tarnowskie Góry) - from its emergence from 1490 through its decline to its inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2017. The aim of the exhibition is to convey European industrial culture through the ages and especially in German -Polish context. The special exhibition, curated by Mariusz Gąsior, was created in collaboration with the Association of Homeland Friends of the Tarnowitz Region (Stowarzyszenie Miłośników Ziemi Tarnogórskiej), the sponsoring association of the only UNESCO World Heritage site in Upper Silesia. Funded by the Cultural Foundation of the States and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. “In the 'Silver Fever' exhibition, visitors can follow in the footsteps of European industrial culture. With the help of virtual reality, you can even go underground.” – Rheinische Post
