Wilhelm Fabry Collection digital – presentation of a funding project

PDF

exhibition
Project presentation by Rainer Hotz. It is thanks to the Rhineland Regional Association, the Mettmann district and the Unser Hilden eV museum and local history association that the unique medical history collection of the Wilhelm Fabry Museum can be digitized. With the help of the internet platform museum-digital, which can be freely used by museums, the objects in the collection are still systematically re-inventorized today. museum-digital not only provides a powerful database module, but also enables a public presentation of selected objects in words and images. The results so far show the diversity of the Wilhelm Fabry Museum's collection: instruments, prints, paintings and books from a wide variety of eras with a common connection to medicine. They not only serve as historical illustrations, but also reflect the historical processes of their time, the intellectual-historical development, the image of humanity and the dynamics of social change. The photographer Rainer Hotz gives us an insight into his sometimes detective work and also shows the challenges of assigning and digitizing collections.
