On May 25th, the museum will not only be the starting point of the traditional opening hike, but also the location of a large family celebration.

“We are pleased to be able to present a particularly diverse thematic offering this year with over forty-five hikes and over thirty experienced tour guides,” explains Philipp Gilbert, who will also accompany the opening hike through the Ratingen city forest. “The hiking area neanderland has many facets from the Ice Age, nature and industrial culture to mindfulness and relaxation to discovery tours for children and challenging routes for sports enthusiasts and long-distance hikers.”

Whether it's a fitness hike with a personal trainer, knowledge of wild herbs, an after-work finish, a micro-adventure with a dog or an Ice Age tour to the game reserve - there's a personal hiking highlight in the program for everyone, whether you're a beginner or a hiking professional, whether it's family-friendly or wheelchair accessible.

“According to the motto: If you hike a lot, you can win a lot, we have come up with a stamp competition this year. There is a stamp on every hiking tour. If you have two stamps you can take part in the raffle at the end of the hiking week. And the best thing: the first stamp will be available during the opening hike on May 25th,” reveals Paula Lange from Destination Marketing neanderland.
