Hiking enthusiasts on the most beautiful tours through the district

NEANDERLAND/METTMANN DISTRICT. “There is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing,” said the British author and hiker Alfred Wainwright – and that also applied to this year’s neanderland HIKING WEEK. Numerous outdoor fans were not deterred by the rain and explored the Mettmann district from May 25th to June 2nd on over 45 guided themed tours. Many participants, tour providers and the organizing team were delighted with the successful hiking event.

"On my hike through the settlement, landscape and culture in Monheim am Rhein, all participants were well prepared for the weather," reports tour guide Christiane Büchel. "My guests had a lot of fun and already had hiking experience, as I could see from the well-filled stamp passes." In addition to the varied theme tours, the competition campaign with collecting stamps per hike also provided an incentive to register for several excursions. Not only people from the district came to the neanderland HIKING WEEK. “Some of my participants came from Kerpen, Düsseldorf and Bonn,” explains hiking guide Reinhard Schultz-Hock, who took his guests on a historical search for traces through the Neandertal.
