Hiking in the footsteps of the third Federal President: The "Gustav-Heinemann-Weg" discovery loop leads from the 4th stage of the neanderland STEIG to Velbert-Langenberg. It leads through the Bergische and the Elfringhauser Schweiz: The landscape on the border between Rhineland and Westphalia with its natural or agricultural meadows, deep valleys and fantastic panoramas is actually reminiscent of the Alps. In the northern section, it's easy going through the Felderbachtal nature reserve.
Gustav Walter Heinemann (*1899 in Schwelm; † 1976 in Essen) was a German politician and the third President of the Federal Republic of Germany. When he visited his daughter, he often walked along the Felderbach. However, he saved himself the way up to the heights. But on his it goes up high with a fantastic view of the Bonsfeld district. Cross streams, forest and meadows alternate and the "Gustav-Heinemann-Weg" discovery loop is as multifaceted as the Federal President at the time.
