The varied and family-friendly discovery loop leads over the Wülfrather Höhen, through idyllic nature, the historic old town, past two museums and over the Niederbergbahn panorama cycle path.
The discovery loop starts at the Ellenbeek green belt, Chemnitzer Straße. From there the path runs moderately up to the Flehenberg.
Hikers are rewarded with a magnificent view over Düssel to Wuppertal. The path continues to immerse itself in nature and crosses the idyllic valley of the Holzer Bach before it reaches Düsseler Straße. Past the Düsseler Tor kindergarten, an architectural highlight in the design language of Friedensreich Hundertwasser, the explorers are guided through various residential areas and then through the city park to the city center of Wülfrath.
The historically grown old town with houses in the Bergisch style and lovingly designed shops as well as cozy restaurants invites you to take a short or long break.
A detour via the worth seeing church square with the Ev. City church, surrounded by old half-timbered houses, is worthwhile.
Continue through the pedestrian zone over a bridge past the Niederbergisches Museum. Among other things, life and work in the region in the 19th century is presented there. In addition, the Bergische Kaffeetafel is offered upon registration.
Continuing along the PanoramaRadweg Niederbergbahn, the Wülfrath time tunnel invites you to stop shortly before the destination. Here, culture enthusiasts can go on a journey through 400 million years of geological history and experience the past and present of the lime industry in Wülfrath.
From there the path leads back to the starting point.
