Easy to moderate stage with some steep climbs. It goes up and down through the region, which is characterized by limestone construction, past the source of the Düssel, to the former Hardenberg Castle and to the impressive Mariendom.
Wülfrath-Düssel to Velbert-Neviges
We begin the stage in Düssel and quickly reach the highly romantic valley of the Holzer Bach. This section of the trail is a true pearl of the neanderland STEIG. We quickly reached the heights near Wülfrath and the old Cologne road.
We pass under the Autobahn 535 and walk through a beautiful forest up to the Düssel source. From there we have to cross two more valleys, then we stand on a mountain spur next to the ruins of Hardenberg Castle - only earth walls can be seen.
It goes down to the pilgrimage town of Velbert-Neviges with many places to stop for refreshments, the pilgrims' dome made of concrete, Hardenberg Castle and, above all, the legendary minigolf course of the "Hardenberg Pötter", the multiple German minigolf champions.
