Moderately difficult stage with varied ups and downs, sometimes with steep climbs and paths on steep slopes. The path leads through the hilly Bergische and Elfringhauser Schweiz and through the more leisurely Felderbachtal.
Velbert-Nordrath to Velbert-Nierenhof
We start in Nordrath and quickly descend into the valley to the Deilbach. This forms the border between the districts of Mettmann and Hattingen, i.e. between Rhineland and Westphalia, between two different mentalities and dialects.
Then it goes over the Deilbach into Westphalia and it becomes alpine in Elfringhauser Switzerland. We see the WDR transmission masts from Langenberg on the next mountain (higher than the Eiffel Tower!) and finally reach the Felderbachtal. The wooded stage ends at the S-Bahn station in Velbert-Nierenhof.
