Although most of the altitude difference can be overcome on this moderately difficult stage, the gradients are all moderate. On the northern edge of neanderland you can expect far-reaching views as far as the Ruhr area when visibility is good.
Velbert-Nierenhof to Velbert
The stage begins at the S-Bahn in Velbert-Nierenhof and we quickly hike through a bright and sparse (primeval) forest. It goes north past Velbert-Langenberg and soon we enjoy a premium view over the Ruhr area.
As soon as we saw the Ruhr area, we are already in the Essen city area. It continues through the ancient Asbach valley and then uphill again with a first glimpse of Velbert, the city of keys and castles. We cross the A44 and the neanderland STEIG leads us through the Langenhorst Forest and the Rosenbachtal.
This stage ends in Velbert near the Niederbergbahn panorama cycle path. Those who are not exhausted from hiking can now cycle a little on the Bahntrassenweg.
