Later, our path leads through the Eller Forest to the Unterbacher See with various activities and rest stops. We cross the autobahn and can refresh ourselves at an extraordinary fresh milk vending machine in Hilden.
We continue with "maritime" impressions, because we visit the Elbsee and later the Menzelsee. A short time later, after a walk through the Hasseler Forst, we reach our stage destination in Hilden-Hülsen. A beautiful section of the trail where you can see three lakes.
Erkrath to Hilden
In Erkrath, we first hike along the Düssel, then we cross the railway tracks and slightly uphill through a dreamlike little forest to the first highlight of the stage: a view over the Rhineland to Cologne Cathedral.Later, our path leads through the Eller Forest to the Unterbacher See with various activities and rest stops. The narrow paths can be slippery in places, especially in wet weather. Be careful with embankments or cliff edges, keep your distance.
Facilities
Good hiking shoes should already be. Depending on the season and the weather, a jacket is a must along the many cool streams and in the deep forests, as well as on the often windy heights.
