The city of Hilden is characterized by Rhenish serenity and Bergisch traditions. Hilden is well connected between Düsseldorf, Wuppertal and Cologne in neanderland. The approx. 56.000 inhabitants are spread over seven diverse districts.

The city center of Hilden is a popular meeting place, but also a place to live. Due to the local restaurants with outdoor seating, there is a lot of activity here even after the shops have closed. The old market and the 13th-century Reformation Church, which is one of the few architectural monuments in the city and can be found right in the city center, create a special ambience.

The cultural life in Hilden is mainly characterized by the events Hildener Jazztage, neanderland BIENNIAL and the neanderland MUSEUM NIGHT shaped. That Wilhelm Fabry Museum with the "Vogelsang Steamed Grain Distillery" is also part of the city's cultural identity. In addition to elaborations on the life and work of Hilden's most famous citizen, Wilhelm Fabry, there are temporary exhibitions on medical history as well as regularly changing artistic exhibitions.

The fun and leisure pools Hildorado with an integrated wellness and sauna area and the one on the edge of the forest forest bath are known beyond the local area and invite you to bathing fun with the whole family. The is also popular in recreational sports mountain station – a climbing and bouldering center with courses suitable for all ages and every occasion. In bad weather, young and old can relax in the Trampoline Park Hi Fly let off steam In addition to other sports and leisure facilities, the city of Hilden also has its own cinema: the LUX-Lichtspiele.

The Hildener Heide and the city forest are attractive destinations in nature for sports enthusiasts, hikers and those looking for relaxation. The city forest with its approx. 430 hectares is primarily dedicated to tasks such as nature conservation and sustainable wood production. Stages 11 and 12 of the neanderland STEIG lead past Hilden and provide romantic lake views of the Menzel and Elbsee.
