Welcome to Neanderland!

Relax and experience between the Rhine and the hills of the Bergisches Land

The neanderland begins right outside the gates of the large metropolises on the Rhine and Ruhr and extends far into the Bergisches Land. The tourism region around the ten towns of the district of Mettmann, each with its own special features and offers, stands for adventure culture, tradition and joie de vivre. The focus is also on history, art and events as well as a huge range of sports and leisure activities.

As if made for an equally exciting and relaxing short break!

Neanderland adventure paradise

The home of the Neanderthal - A region full of discoveries

The diverse region around the site where the Neanderthal was found is the ideal destination with its lush forests, extensive meadow and heath landscapes, clear streams and lakes, and idyllic little half-timbered towns. It invites people of all ages to relax and walk, hike and bike. And always amazed: about unexpected fantastic views, impressive sights, numerous lively educational offers, living traditions and a wide range of gastronomic landscapes. Sports and action enthusiasts will also get their money's worth here. A very special highlight and at the same time the region's namesake is the discovery site of the first Stone Age man in the Neandertal. His world comes alive in the modern Neanderthal Museum with a world-famous exhibition, exciting workshops, a multimedia cave tower, Stone Age playground and Ice Age game reserve as well as a sculpture trail. An adventure for the whole family.
