Lady chapel

Late Gothic pilgrimage chapel in Monheim am Rhein
The construction of the Chapel of the Sorrowful Mother or simply Marienkapelle can be traced back to 1418. Originally built as a wooden chapel on a ferry landing stage, it was made of stone in 1514. Especially during the time of the plague, many believers, even from Cologne, made a pilgrimage to the miraculous image of Mary and asked for help there.

A concert takes place on the first Sunday of every month at 16 p.m. under the direction of the Marienkapelle eV association. You can find out whether and which concerts are taking place on the website of the provider.
