The Mariendom in Velbert-Neviges, built by the famous architect Prof. Gottfried Böhm, was inaugurated in 1968. However, the origin of the pilgrimage church goes back to the more than 300-year pilgrimage to the miraculous image of Mary.

Arrival & Parking
On the A535 between the Sonnborner Kreuz (A46) and Velbert/Essen, take the “Velbert Tönisheide” exit. Then follow the signs “Mariendom Neviges” downhill. Large pilgrim car park at Hardenberg Castle (entrance to town) for cars and coaches. Footpath to the pilgrimage area.
By train:
Between Essen and Wuppertal S-Bahn 9 to Velbert-Neviges,
then a short walk to Mariendom.
By bus:
Lines 647 and 649 go to "Neviges Markt am Busbahnhof", then a short walk to Mariendom.
Access to the church via the Pilgrim's Square is barrier-free. For people with disabilities, access is also possible via Löher Straße through the entrance in the window of salvation. Please register in advance so that the entrance can be opened.
